Who are you? Tell us your name, any recently or soon-to-be published books, and what you’re all about.
Hi, Jess, I’m Lesley Field. I live on the coast in North Yorkshire, England. I write in 2 genres, contemporary and historical. I have to add that you do need to be over 18 to read them. My contemporary novels are set in Canada, and my historical novels are set in London, in and around the Regency period. I began writing in 2012 after I had retired. I have 2 historical books published as e-books by MuseItUp Publishers, “Dangerous Entrapment,” which was shortlisted for Historical Novel of the Year 2016 by the Romantic Novelists Association in the UK. The second historical novel is, “Dangerous Deception,” and is the 2ndbook in the Duchess in Danger series. There are two further books in the series which should be published in 2019. They are stand-alone books and are not linked in any way, apart from the series title. Both books are also available from Amazon as print on demand.
I have also had 2 contemporary books published this year. The first to be published in February was, “Betrayal,” which is set just outside Calgary, Canada. This was published by Crooked Cat Books, both as an e-book and in print. The second contemporary novel was published at the end of May as an e-book by MuseItUp, and is “Saunders-Lies and Deception.” This is the first book in a family trilogy and is set in Banff, Canada. This is also now available as print on demand. Book 2 in the series, “Saunders-Endings and Beginnings,” is in the early stages of editing and should be published early in 2019. This will be followed by book 3, “Saunders-Sisters and Lovers,” hopefully in late 2019. Both books will be available as print on demand after initial publication as an e-book.
Indie or Traditional? Or somewhere in between? Tell us how you’re getting your books out into the world.
I am published both traditionally in e-book form by my publishers, MuseItUp but have brought out those books published by them as print on demand. I am published traditionally by Crooked Cat Books in both e-book and print. It’s very difficult to make your name in the book world as there are so many authors out there. But by joining various groups and posting information about your books, keeping your name known locally through posters, radio interviews and library talks etc. you can gradually grow a group of followers.
Where can we buy your books?? Links please
My MuseItUp e-books are available from various Amazon sites, and Kobo
The easiest way to find me on Amazon or Kobo sites is to type in Lesley Field on the relevant site and it will bring up my books. But please do not confuse me with someone of the same name who has recovered from taking Legal Highs. This is not me
Who are your favorite authors/writers to follow on social media? Please give us 3-5, so we can follow them too!
My favourite authors are, Karen Swan, Sarah MacLean, Val Wood, Stephanie Laurens, Sarah Morgan Julia Quinn, Susan Mallory, and Freda Lightfoot. I could go on...
Which authors/writers do you find the most supportive on social media? You know, the ones who are always cheering you on, retweeting your posts, and all around wonderful people.
I usually find the most supportive people are those I know personally or authors who are in the same groups as me.
What have you done (or do you do) to show support to your fellow authors? We’re always looking for more ways to help lift each other up!
If there is anything a fellow author wants to share, I will do this on my Facebook page or on Twitter.
Anything else you’d like to share? A story of support? Your favorite book? Favorite blog? Add anything extra here.
The only other thing I would add is to never give up, take a rejection on the chin and send the novel out to the next person on the list. One thing I have found amongst authors is that there is no back biting and no jealousy. Everyone is eager and happy to help.
